AccessAble Help Desk Professional Edition

November 14, 2005 - Now through December 31, 2005 - AccessAble Help Desk Client Server and Pro Edition "Two-Fer" offer is back.  I am still making a list of changes planned for the next major upgrade to both the Professional Edition and the Client Server Edition of the AccessAble Help Desk programs.  Version 3.0 for both will be planned for release before the end of the first quarter of 2006 and all registered users prior to that release will be eligible for a free version upgrade.  In the meantime, I will include a license/registration key for both the Pro Edition and Client Server Edition to all who purchase a license for either version at no extra charge.  TIP:  The Pro Edition license is $100 cheaper than the Client Server Edition.  So if you have been contemplating buying the Client Server Edition, go ahead and buy the Pro Edition, even if you know you never plan to use it.  This will save you a little money if you order before the end of 2006.

8/20/2005 - I now have a modified set of version 2.57 pages that utilize a javascript drop down menu instead of the simple text based links.  You can try this new navigation option live and in color at either of the links below.

Pine Style  Coffee Break Style  Innovation Style  - Blueprint Style

When prompted user the login name of admin and password of admin.  I will be glad to have any comments, just email me at dbandsons@aol.com - Again, the new version 2.57 web pages are not included in the trial download but will be provided free to registered users of AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition.

8/17/2005 - More information on the new version 2.57 web pages here:  http://www.lnsoftware.com/257pages.htm

8/16/2005 - Customer Web page ready.  I am still making changes, but you can now view the new style web pages from the customer point of view.  Visit the Customer Menu page, search the FAQs, Create your own account then login and submit/view requests as your customer would. Then, login to the staff menu with the login name of Admin and password of Admin.

8/12/2005 - The new version 2.57 web pages are nearing completion.  You can view some of these pages on one of my other sites.  Use the login name of Admin and password of Admin to these these pages.  Main changes:  in version 2.52 and earlier the web pages used a set of "themes" to provide a different look and feel.  I provided a set of .asp and .html pages that each had to be installed to a different directory with the related themes in a subdirectory for each.  This meant your web pages would be accessing the same database, regardless of the URL you used http://youripaddress/aahdpro251d or http://youripadress/aahdpro25e and so on.  However, if you wanted to edit the .html files to change field labels, etc, you had to copy these changed files to each subdirectory you might want to use. Now, the new pages use Styles and which are all installed under a subdirectory of the main http://youripaddress/aahdpro257 - this means you need only to modify any .html files once if you want to customize things, and don't worry about copying your changed files.

I will be provided a variety of report style pages that include a Printable version link.  This makes it easier than having to print one page, then another.  If your report has a dozen pages, you initially view the report with page numbers.  Then, to print the report you need only click the Printable View link and all the pages will be shown together so you can print all pages at once.

There are other pluses to the new style web pages, and I may mention them here later this month.

To see how the dynamic styles work, just by adding a parameter ?Style=Pine of Style=School etc, Try the 2.57 pages one URL below, then come back and try another URL. (you may change the style used at any time when browsing the pages by replacing the part of the address after Style+ with another style).  When finished there will be about a dozen styles provided to registered users (in fact, I have decided to only provide the new style pages to registered users of AAHD Pro Edition.  They are compatible with the database file going back to version 2.0.  If you have already registered and have not received an email from me by the end of this month, please write to me with information to help me verify your license.  I will send you the completed pages via email.

If you have tried the old style pages on this web site, the data may look familiar.  I just copied the .mdb file from one web server to another.

7/11/2005 - Due to several recent emails, I will once again offer a free license for the AccessAble Help Desk Client Server Edition with each purchase of the AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition.  This will be from today through the end of July.  The dual license sale may be used only within the same organization, licenses are not transferable.  Yes, it is possible to use the Client Server Edition with Microsoft's MSDE not just MS SQL Server 2000.

6/27/2005 - A full setup installation of AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition 2.57 is now available for licensed users of earlier versions.  In July, the trial download setup, currently version 2.55 may be replaced with version 2.57.  In addition, a new web page interface for AAHD Pro Edition is in development.  These new web pages will be made available first to licensed uses and at least one set of new pages may be included in a trial version download.  Below is an example screen shot for new web pages.

5/31/2005 - Still making some mods for a version 2.57.  In addition to a button on the requests browse screen to print the selected request, I am adding this to the update screen as well.

5/26/2005 - Only a few days left on the May Special, and new version almost complete. I am very near to completing new incremental updates to both the AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition and the AccessAble Help Desk Client Server Edition. These new versions (2.57) will be initially available to registered users. A full reinstall will NOT be required, instead a .zip file containing new .exe and .dll files will only need to be unzipped to your current installed directory. Most notable in the next release is the addition of a window for users of Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express..  This will enable you to read the contents of your inbox and by clicking one button create a new problem or request record based on the contents of the email you are reading.  You will also be able to send email from within the program, with the same feature.

I will begin notifying registered users of the availability of the new version soon, and this version may not be publicly available for download.

5/4/2005 - May Special on AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition/Client Server and price  reduced on C/S Edition.  I am once again offering a "Two-Fer" special.  Buy a site license for either the AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition or the Client Server Edition and receive a free license for the other.  I have also reduced the site license price for the Client Server Edition to $499.  The special includes a complimentary CD for each.  This offer good through the month of May 2005. I will also be including a free license for the Standard Edition for the next few purchases of the AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition, making it a "Three -Fer- the price of one!

3/5/2005 - Although I believe version 2.55 is the best version of AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition so far, a large number of people are still downloading a much older version, 2.0.  This may be due to the fact that a number of internet sites are still pointing to the older version.  So I have decided to remove the download for version 2.0 from this site.  It will only be available for special cases.  To prevent error messages, I will copy the current setup download file to the file name of the older version.  If you have some reason for wanting to download the old, old 2.0 version please write to me and I will see what I can do for you.  I hope this help those who thought they were downloading the latest and greatest and instead downloaded a file that is much older.

12/30/2004 - Online help for version 2.55

Version 2.55 available for download here (I will be replacing older downloads with the one above).  This is not an incremental download, but a full install - almost 30 megs. If you find any problems with this file, I would appreciate an email.  More info on this latest release to be posted soon!

This new release includes a number of changes. Most noticeable will be the runtime style manager for the browse requests screen.  Currently status indicators are only in the ID column with a green icon indicating a request with a status of Complete, a red icon indicating a New request, and a blue icons for other statuses.  In this release you will be able to easily color code individual columns or entire rows in a way that makes sense to you - not just me.  I will also be making a modification to the "time to complete" field.  Currently, I had not allowed for entry of fractional amounts.  In the next release, you will be able to enter values as 1, 1.55, .05 and so on.  Other improvements are in the area of the Query and Report Wizards.  A new set of themes for the windows app will also be provided.  I would welcome any emails with things you like or don't like about the current release.  Version 3.0 will not be released until next year.  However, version 2.55 is  available for download and, of course, it is a free upgrade to registered users.

11/5/2004 - Reduced price available only thru the end of November!

You can purchase a site license for AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition for $399 through the end of November 2004 by placing your order through BMT Micro using the discount code:  JJD000CC  This discount will not be available on line after November 30th.

8/23/2004 - New web page interface ready for all registered users of AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition.  Emails with links and password will be going out next week to registered users who have given email permission.

Also, if you have a problem with the login name and password being "cached" with version 2.51 web pages, then you might want to replace your existing loginscreen.asp with this file.  Right click the link and choose Save Target as and overwrite your existing file.  This problem should not exist in version 2.52 pages.

An easy to use Windows Front End, web interface provided via a combination of Active Server Pages and HTML Template pages. Many changes have been made in this latest release.  The windows interface has been modified to make data entry even faster than earlier versions.  New reports have been added, and others have been changed.  This version now allows for sending an email from the windows application from your SMTP email account.  Now, the email sending capability does not depend on a particular email client software program as was the case with earlier versions.

aapro25main.jpg (57822 bytes)  Click the thumbnail for a larger view of the screen for browsing support requests.  Now in version 2.5 you can preview both the Request and Action taken as you scroll through the records.  Also search string box will let you quickly filter the browse screen for any string of characters you want to search for.

7/2/2004 - Standard Edition Site License Price reduced to $99 - this may be a temporary reduction.

aahdstd.jpg (75744 bytes) Click the thumbnail at the left for a larger view of the standard edition.  Most screens are very similar to the Pro Edition, but the main menu is a new and different style.

4/15/2004 - Even though I was pretty sure version 2.5 was the best version so far, I had emails from a registered users that noticed I had left out a button to insert the current time by clicking a button.  He liked the newest version, but missed the button.  Well, I have developed an incremental version (2.51) - no need to download the whole setup again, just replace the 2.5 exe with a new file, about 1.5 megs.  I went one better than just adding back the NOW button replacing it with a DONE button.  See the screen shot below.  If you have already downloaded version 2.5, send me an email if you would like download instructions for the "dot rev".

In 2.51 I also made some of the drop down lists longer, such as for Request Category.  Oh, yeah, the registered user of an earlier version who has already tried 2.51 says "It Rocks!" - that made my day!

The trial download includes update web pages in a single theme - registered users will receive a complimentary CD with the same web pages, but with additional themes so you can choose one that you prefer over the styles shown below.

The above screen is a starting point for the web interface.  You may want to try the web interface online.  You can start by creating a new account: the link below: http://www.lnsoftware.com/aahdpro251a/CreateAccount.asp

Next you can login to the Customer (user) Menu:

http://www.lnsoftware.com/aahdpro251a/CustomerMenu.asp

Here you can submit a new support request

http://www.lnsoftware.com/aahdpro251a/CustomerRequestRecord.asp

 - you should then receive an email after your request has been submitted.

3/28/2004 - AccessAble Help Desk Pro Edition 2.5 is now available for download.  It is a large download, over 25 megs, but this includes the comprehensive windows application, run-time files for the Crystal Reports 9.0 format reports, and the web pages.  If you would like to download the manual in PDF format before downloading the setup program, you can download the manual here.
