Introduction
Introduction to QUAD Help Desk 2.0
QUAD (QUick And Dirty) Help Desk 2.0 is an affordable and easy to use program for recording, updating and reporting on calls from user and/or customers for support and or information. The program is sold with a site license which includes unlimited users (technicians) of the windows application and unlimited users (technicians/users/customers) of the web interface.
The web interface is made possible with a "mini http server" which does not require Microsoft IIS or other web server software. Two HTTP Servers are provided, one uses Port 80, the default for http access, and another which uses Port 89. This is provided in the event that the PC/Web server has some other software utilitizing Port 80.
In order to utilize the web server, you will need to have a Static IP address (as opposed to a Dynamically assigned IP address which can change periodically). The reason is the URLs (resources) you use to acess the web interface will be in the format of http://youripaddress/calls or http://youripaddress/callers. This would not be possible with a changing IP address such as those assigned by a DHCP server.
Version 2.0 is released with the goal of making the program even simpler (easier) to learn and use and includes new buttons to output data to RTF formatted files which can be opened in programs like Microsoft Word or Wordpad. Also, entering the date and time a request has been completed is now easier. No need for a popup calendar or clock. The Complete date and time fields will now be "skipped" as you tab from field to field. However, when you click your mouse inside the date complete field the current date will be filled in for you and when you click in the time complete field it will be filled with the current time.
NOTE: Some of the changes to this version of QUAD Help Desk may mean the data files are not compatible with earlier versions of the program. You may be able to first export data from an earlier version then import that data to the new program. You may first want to test this program to be sure you do like the changes and want to upgrade to this version.
