8/16/2005 - QUAD Help Desk Pro Edition Report Builder in development. This will supplement the standard reports and report wizards.  More flexible, the report builder will allow for such things as using a currency symbol other then $ in reports, changing format of date fields, and much more.  It will allow you to create your own labels, visually design more sophisticated reports, yet still utilize the query wizard to filter data printed, and output to PDF reports as in the standard reports.  Check back for news, or email me at dbandsons@aol.com

6/30/2005 - QUAD Help Desk Pro Edition 3.15 now available.  This new version fixed  a problem brought to our attention by one of our customers.  This will likely be the last .dot revision of QUAD Help Desk.  Future upgrades may affect the database structure and would therefore be a full version upgrade (4.x).  Upgrades always depend on customer feedback and product sales.  So I don't anticipate a version 4.0 until late this year.  Other programs are scheduled for update before then.  I have changed the file to download version 3.15 but the links on this and other web sites should already point to this new release.

4/27/2005 - QUAD Help Desk Pro Edition 3.0 will be officially released by May 1st. At that time the site license price will be increased to $299. New features include the ability to read your Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express Inbox from within the program and create a call record from an email with just one click. Runtime translation is also included.  I will be replacing download links to version 2.x with the link to download version 3.0 on May 1st.  In the meantime you can download version 3.0 right now by clicking here.

  • Easy to use, includes user logins, passwords and procedure security that you can define.
  • Mini-http server is ideal for use on a Local Area Network to let users submit support requests via browser.  Techs can also use the browser to view and edit requests (but unlike the windows app, the browser interface does not use logins)
  • Add calls by reading your Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express Inbox from within the program.
  • If you need the windows interface to be in a different language, you can translate most screen, report and menu labels just by editing a text file with notepad
  • Like all my help desk programs, multiple staff members can access the same database without additional per user charges.

If you don't need the user/procedure security features in the Pro Edition, consider QUAD Help Desk (Standard Edition).  Version 2.9 of that program has just been released and may be all you really need.  A site license for the standard edition is currently just $129.

Above shows addition of Assigned to field, Due Date field, and at the bottom the new Document Link field.  This will allow you to enter the path or URL to any registered file type and the file reference becomes part of the Call record.  Later, clicking on that hyperlink will launch the associated file with the application registered on the PC to open that file type.
